Traceroute On Mac

What is Traceroute?

Traceroute is a tool that records, or maps, the route between your computer and your Nixihost server. It is useful in troubleshooting connection errors.

Using Traceroute on OS X

  1. On your hard drive, click the "Applications" folder, then click "Utilities".
  2. Select "Terminal".
  3. Type "traceroute yourdomain.com", replacing "yourdomain.com" with your actual domain name.
  4. Traceroute will list the hops between you and the destination server. Look for entries with greater than 200ms hop times, or hops that return "**" - these denote a timeout.

If you are getting timeouts or long hops, please submit a ticket explaning your issue and include a copy of the traceroute results.
