WordPress: Uploading Files Via Dashboard

You can use the WordPress Dashboard to upload files to your blog. There are two different ways you can do this; you can either upload directly to a blog post, or you can upload through the media option in the dashboard.



Uploading Directly With The Flash Uploader


  1. Log in to the WordPress Dashboard.
  2. Click "Media", then "Add New".
  3. Click "Select Files" to open a dialog box.
  4. Choose which file you wish to upload.

Note: You can select multiple files by holding down the SHIFT key in Windows, or the COMMAND key in Mac OS.



Uploading A File To A Post


  1. Log in to the WordPress Dashboard.
  2. Click "Posts", then "Add New".
  3. Click "Add Media".
  4. Click the "Select Files" button.
  5. Select the file you want to upload.
  6. Select "Open".
  7. Enter any text you wish to accompany the file in the post.


Uploading A File To A Page


  1. Log in to the WordPress Dashboard.
  2. Click "Pages", then "Add New".
  3. Click "Add Media".
  4. Choose the file you want to upload.
  5. Click "Open".
  6. After the file has uploaded, click the Insert button.
