Creating URL Redirects

Creating URL Redirects

  1. In cPanel under "Domains", select the "Redirects" icon.
  2. Choose which type to use. A "Permanent 301" updates the visitor's bookmarks and directs search engine crawlers to the new site. A "Temporary 302" will redirect visitors and search engines without changing book marks or making the search engine de-index your site.
  3. Using the "http://(www.)" drop-down menu, select the domain you wish to apply the redirect to. You can specify a single page or directory using the secondary field next to the domain.
  4. Enter theĀ full URL you would like the redirect to point to. (http://www.example.com)
  5. Choose one of three redirect options: "Only redirect with www.", "Redirect with or without www.", or "Do Not Redirect www.". This pertains to the address of your site as typed in by the visitor.
  6. If you wish to redirect to the same file on a new location, use the "Wild Card Redirect" option.
  7. Select "Add" to finalize the redirect.
