Mail and Cloudflare

While NixiHost generally recommends using NixiHost-provided nameservers to allow your cPanel account full DNS control and simplify your own management overhead, we are aware that some customers may wish to use Cloudflare's DNS service rather than ours. If you are using Cloudflare's DNS service with proxying enabled, you may have found mail traffic has been disrupted and you are unable to connect your mail client to your mail server. This is being caused by Cloudflare's proxying service, which is routing traffic to their own servers rather than directly to your NixiHost account. You can resolve these problems by making some DNS record changes at Cloudflare.

To ensure incoming mail is routed correctly, you will need to set up an MX record for your domain pointing to mail.yourdomain.com (replacing yourdomain.com with your actual domain) and disable proxying for that record. You will then need to set up an A record for mail.yourdomain.com (replacing yourdomain.com with your actual domain again) pointing to your host, or server IP address. You can find this on the sidebar when logged in to cPanel. This A record will also need to have proxying disabled.
