Changing Document Roots

Changing Document Roots

The document root can be adjusted for Addon Domains and Subdomains by following these steps. The primary domain name will always be assigned to "public_html" as this is required for cPanel to function correctly.

How to Change the Document Root for Addon or Subdomains

  1. Ensure you have an up-to-date full site backup before proceeding.
  2. In cPanel, under "Domains", click the "Domains" icon.
  3. Click the "Manage" next to the domain you wish to edit.
  4. Enter the new document root under the "New Document Root" heading.
  5. Click "Update".
