Index Manager

Index Manager

The Index Manager allows you to disable the default listing of all files in a directory if there is no index file.

Using the Index Manager

  1. In cPanel, select "Indexes"
  2. Select "Web Root", or whichever subdomain or domain name you wish to view. Select "Go".
  3. Select a folder to open in, click on its name to modify the name.
  4. If you wish to disable directory indexing, change the value to "No Indexing". If you wish to enable indexing, change the setting to anything other than "No Indexing".

Warning: If you have edited your .htaccess file already, cPanel will append this new code directly onto the end of your own code. To fix this problem, you will need to manually edit the .htaccess file and move the cPanel indexing code to its own line.
