Editing .htaccess With cPanel's File Manager

  1. In cPanel, select the "File Manager" icon.
  2. Checkmark the "Document Root for" and select the appropriate domain name from the list, ensuring that "Show Hidden Files" is checked as well.
  3. Click "Go".
  4. Find the .htaccess file in your file structure. If you are having trouble, you can use the search box at the top right of the page.
  5. Right click on the .htaccess file, and select "Code Edit" from the menu. 
  6. If a dialogue box pops up, click "Edit".
  7. The .htaccess file will open. Make the necessary
  8. When you're finished editing the file, click the "Save Changes" button.
  9. Load your website in another browser window to verify that everything is correct.
  10. Click "Close".
