File Manager: Creating, Editing, and Deleting Files

Creating a File or Folder

    1. In cPanel, find the Files section and select "File Manager"
    2. Choose the "Web Root" directory.
    3. Check the "Show Hidden Files (dotfiles)" box.
    4. Click "Go".
    5. Click "New File" or "New Folder"/
    6. Enter the name of the folder or file you are creating.
    7. Click "Create New File" or "Create New Folder"






Removing a File or Folder

    1. In cPanel, find the "File Manager" in the Files section.
    2. Click the "Web Root" directory.
    3. Put a checkmark next to "Show Hidden Files (dotfiles)".
    4. Click "Go".
    5. Select the file or folder you intend to delete.
    6. Click "Delete".
    7. Confirm you decision in the pop-up window that appears.




Editing a File

  1. In cPanel, find the "File Manager" under the Files section.
  2. Select "Web Root"
  3. Ensure that "Show Hidden Files (dotfiles)" is checked.
  4. Click "Go".
  5. Select the file you wish to edit.
  6. Choose "Edit", "Code Edit", or "HTML Editor" from the toolbar. Edit treats the file as plaintext, Code Edit treats it as code, and HTML Editor treats the file as an HTML document.
  7. Click "Edit" in the pop-up window.
  8. Click "Save Changes" when you are finished.
