Flushing your DNS will clear out your cached DNS records on your computer, forcing the computer to look for the DNS records on the internet.
Windows 8
Close any applications you're working with that might access the internet before you begin.
- Press the Windows Logo key and R key at the same time. The "Run" dialogue box will appear.
- Type "cmd" into the window.
- Type "ipconfig /flushdns"
- Restart the application you were using.
Windows 7 & Windows Vista
Close any applications you're working with that might access the internet before you begin.
- Click the Start button, then mouseover "All Programs", then "Accessories". Find "Command Prompt".
- Right click on "Command Prompt" and choose "Run as Administrator".
- Type "ipconfig /flushdns" at the command prompt.
- Restart the application(s) you were working with.
Windows XP
Close any applications you're working with that might access the internet before you begin.
- Click the Start button, then "Run".
- Type "cmd" into the window.
- Type "ipconfig /flushdns".
- Restart the application(s) you were working with.
