Due to pending updates, some users with "old_passwords" enabled in MySQL will need to update their password hashes to a more secure hashing process. The more secure hashing process has been optional since MySQL 4.1 but with the new update greater security is required. You will need to log in to cPanel to complete this process.
- Log in to cPanel. You can log in directly via your domain or when logged in to NixiHost.com, click "Services", then "My Services", then "Active" next to your cPanel account, then click "Login to cPanel" on the left hand side of the page.
- Underneath the "Databases" heading, click "MySQL Databases"
- Scroll down to the "Current Users" section
- Click "Set Password" and update the password
Note: Updated passwords will need to be edited in to any script using the old passwords!
If you are using WordPress, you will need to edit your wp-config.php file to replace the out-dated password with the updated one. The "Edit wp-config.php" steps of Section C of this knowledgebase article outline how to find and edit your wp-config.php; you will only need to replace the DB_PASSWORD value with the updated password.
