1. Not Sure How To Share Your Content? WordPress Getting Started Guide!

WordPress is the easiest way to get started sharing your content with the world wide web! Even if you're not interested in blogging, WordPress can get your business off the ground and onto the internet, generating views and sales. Nixihost has put this guide together to make sure that you don't need to hire an experienced web professional to use our services and make an impact on your passion. After you're done reading and watching this guide, you'll be ready to install the WordPress plugin, optimize your website for search indexing and linking from other sites, select a theme, and create or delete users and posts. Let's get started by installing WordPress using the Softaculous Apps Installer tool in your cPanel.

Install WordPress

Temporary URLs

Unfortunately, WordPress does not handle Temporary URLs very well and will often display a broken looking installation when using one. The best solution is to instead edit the Hosts file on your local computer - this will make your computer load the contents of your NixiHost account when you browse to your domain, rather than relying on DNS records.

For instructions on how to edit your Hosts file, see our knowledgebase article on the subject: The Hosts File: What Is It, How To Edit It

Installing WP Fastest Cache

We have found WP Fastest Cache outperforms other caching plugins by a significant margin in our hosting environment. You can install WP Fastest Cache by following these quick steps:

  1. When logged in to WordPress, click "Plugins" on the left side of the page.
  2. Click "Add New" under "Plugins" on the left side of the page.
  3. In the search bar in the top right corner of the page type "WP Fastest Cache", then hit enter.
  4. Click "Install Now" next to the first result, "WP Fastest Cache".
  5. After the installation completes, click the "Activate" button that replaced the "Install Now" button.
  6. Now click "WP Fastest Cache" on the left side of the page to open the plugin settings.
  7. We recommend enabling all options, then click "Submit".

Choosing a Theme

WordPress has many themes and layouts to choose from. You can browse the available options and find something that best matches your interests, branding, or target market. It's easy to change the themes at any time using this simple guide.

Creating and Deleting Posts

WordPress is primarily a blogging tool. While many companies and organizations use WordPress for everything from sales (using Paypal to handle transactions) to public relations, content is still created and shared via posts. Whether you're reading this to learn how to share your ideas with the world as a blogger, promote your art or music, or connect with customers and clients, you will use posts to put your content onto your WordPress site.

Creating and Deleting WordPress Users

If more than one person will be posting content to your blog, you can create user accounts. This can be useful if the posted content is different, or requires attribution.
