We recommend using SSL. To use SSL, you will need to log in to cPanel to get the incoming and outgoing server names and ports.
- Log in to cPanel.
- Find the Email section, and click on "Accounts".
- Find the email address you wish to configure your email client for. To the right of the email address, click the dropdown menu labeled "More".
- Click "Configure Mail Client".
- Scroll down to "Manual Settings"
The highlighted section labeled "Secure SSL/TLS Settings" contains your incoming server name and the correct port for either IMAP or POP3, as well as the outgoing server and the appropriate SMTP port.
Outlook Express Email Setup
- Open Outlook Express
- Click "Tools", then "Accounts".
- In the window that pops up, click the "Mail" tab, "Add", and then select "Mail".
- Enter your name, or the name you would like to be displayed when you send email, then click "Next".
- Enter your email address, then click "Next".
- Under "Incoming Mail" enter the incoming server name shown to you in cPanel from the first section.
- Under "Outgoing Mail" enter the outgoing server name shown to you in cPanel from the first section. Click "Next".
- Next to "Account name", enter your complete email address. Next to password, the password you chose for your email address.
- Click "Next".
- Click "Finish".
- Click "Properties" > "Servers".
- Check mark the box for "My server requires authentication".
- Click "Settings".
- Click "Use same settings as my incoming mail server."
- Click "OK".
- Click the "Advanced" tab.
- Checkmark both of the boxes labeled "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)"
- Change the Outgoing mail (SMTP) port to 465.
- Change the Incoming mail (POP3) port to 995.
- Click "OK".
- Click "Close" on the Internet Accounts dialog box.
