The Super Cache plugin for WordPress creates HTML pages from your blog. Displaying these HTML pages to visitors is less resource-intensive than WordPress's native dynamic page generation.

Enabling Super Cache

  1. Log in to the WordPress Dashboard.
  2. Under "Plugins", select "Add New".
  3. Search for "wp super cache".
  4. The first result should be "WP Super Cache". Click "Install Now".
  5. Select the "plugin admin page". Enable "WP Super Cache".
  6. Now select "Settings" from the left side of the screen.
  7. Select "WP Super Cache".
  8. In the tab marked "Easy", make sure the "Caching On" box is checkmarked.
  9. Select "Update Status".
  10. Select "Advanced".
  11. Select the "Cache hits to this website for quick access" box next to "Caching".
  12. Select "Use mod_rewrite to serve cache files".
  13. Under "Miscellaneous" we suggest you select page compression, "304 Not Modified browser caching", "Cache rebuild", extra homepage checks, and do not cache pages for known users.
  14. Select "Update Status". If you are prompted to update mod_rewrite rules, you will find it under "Advanced Settings".
  15. Find "Expiry Time & Garbage Collection", and enter "3600" for the value.
  16. Click "Change Expiration".
