The Super Cache plugin for WordPress creates HTML pages from your blog. Displaying these HTML pages to visitors is less resource-intensive than WordPress's native dynamic page generation.
Enabling Super Cache
- Log in to the WordPress Dashboard.
- Under "Plugins", select "Add New".
- Search for "wp super cache".
- The first result should be "WP Super Cache". Click "Install Now".
- Select the "plugin admin page". Enable "WP Super Cache".
- Now select "Settings" from the left side of the screen.
- Select "WP Super Cache".
- In the tab marked "Easy", make sure the "Caching On" box is checkmarked.
- Select "Update Status".
- Select "Advanced".
- Select the "Cache hits to this website for quick access" box next to "Caching".
- Select "Use mod_rewrite to serve cache files".
- Under "Miscellaneous" we suggest you select page compression, "304 Not Modified browser caching", "Cache rebuild", extra homepage checks, and do not cache pages for known users.
- Select "Update Status". If you are prompted to update mod_rewrite rules, you will find it under "Advanced Settings".
- Find "Expiry Time & Garbage Collection", and enter "3600" for the value.
- Click "Change Expiration".
