Creating URL Redirects
- In cPanel under "Domains", select the "Redirects" icon.
- Choose which type to use. A "Permanent 301" updates the visitor's bookmarks and directs search engine crawlers to the new site. A "Temporary 302" will redirect visitors and search engines without changing book marks or making the search engine de-index your site.
- Using the "http://(www.)" drop-down menu, select the domain you wish to apply the redirect to. You can specify a single page or directory using the secondary field next to the domain.
- Enter the full URL you would like the redirect to point to. (http://www.example.com)
- Choose one of three redirect options: "Only redirect with www.", "Redirect with or without www.", or "Do Not Redirect www.". This pertains to the address of your site as typed in by the visitor.
- If you wish to redirect to the same file on a new location, use the "Wild Card Redirect" option.
- Select "Add" to finalize the redirect.
