Apache Handlers And Running HTML as PHP
Apache Handlers control how Apache manages file types. If you wish you change the way Apache performs an action, you must use handlers to modify the default.
Note: We do not suggest that you ever configure HTML pages to automatically handle SHTML or PHP, as this will force all HTML pages to be processed by the server first. We suggest you rename your files to .php or .shtml when possible.
