Changing File Permissions

While some files need to be write protected to enure security, others need the ability to be edited and written.

Changing File Permissions Through cPanel

  1. Select "File Manager"
  2. Select the file whose permissions you would like to change.
  3. Choose "Permissions", at the top of the page.
  4. Choose the permissions for the file.
  5. Select "Change Permissions".

Changing File Permissions Through FTP

  1. Connect to your FTP.
  2. Find the file whose permissions you would like to change, and right click to bring up the context menu.
  3. Select "Attributes", "Properties", or "Permissions", whichever your FTP client shows.

Using SSH

Use the "chmod" command.
